is a power meter beneficial for the average club rider?

I've found it depends on your training regime - I used to do three wattbike classes a week at a local studio and was riding 5,000 miles a year - was just contemplating a power meter but they were still very expensive and I could gauge my efforts enough to not need it. Now, after a period of injury and being off the bike most of the year, having a wattbike at home (so just a fancy power meter) has meant I can monitor my fitness as I'm not able to get out on the road/MTB. But, and again personal opinion, unless you're looking to ride in Club Races or are in the B+/A groups, then you can probably just ignore the zPower conversations, get your bike configured right and enjoy zwift

I have a stages PM, and I absolutely love it. I primarily bought it after extensive reading up on it, and I decided it would help me train better and in lesser time, so as to not stress my family life too much. It helps me pace myself better, you have access to various free and payable analysis software, it's all a bit technical, but once you grasp it, you''ll never go back :-)
